Piper
Jaffray Companies (NYSE: PJC), a leading investment bank and asset
management firm, is hosting its Technology-Enabled Industrials Symposium
on August 4-5, 2015 in Minneapolis.
The event will feature 56 private and public company executives, as well
as industry thought leaders from the fleet management and agriculture
industries. The symposium is expected to draw approximately 50
institutional investors, private equity professionals and venture
capitalists.
Day one of the event will examine how advanced technology is changing
the way vehicle fleets are managed, while day two will explore similar
trends in agriculture.
Day One (August 4): Technology-Enabled Trucks
Senior research analyst Alex
Potter, who covers companies related to
trucks and transportation technology, will be leading day one of the
symposium. With four panels throughout the day, he will address topics
such as telematics, fleet efficiency and alternative fuels.
“This will be the third year we’ve hosted our Technology-Enabled event,
and this year’s line-up is the strongest yet,” noted Potter. “The job of
managing a vehicle fleet has become increasingly complex in recent
years, but by leveraging telematics, CNG/LPG and efficiency-enhancing
technologies, forward-looking fleets have the opportunity to
out-manoeuvre the competition.”
For day one, participating companies include managers from several large
(1000+ vehicle) fleets, as well as over 20 technology vendors and
component suppliers. Examples include Ford Motor Co., Ryder System,
Inc., GE Capital Fleet Services – Telematics Division, WABCO Holdings
Inc., and many others.
Day Two (August 5): Technology-Enabled Agriculture
Day two will start with a keynote address from The Mosaic Company
regarding the state of the fertilizer industry. The remainder of the day
will highlight companies from across the ag value chain, including
Monsanto Co., AGCO Corporation, Land O’Lakes Inc. and many others.
Piper Jaffray agriculture senior research analyst Brett
Wong is hosting the second day of the event, which will cover topics
such as new value-added crop chemicals, precision agriculture &
up-and-coming drone technology, and the future of ag biotech and crop
science.
“Recently we have seen agriculture turn more toward technology in all
aspects of the industry and we plan to dig into this trend in detail,”
Wong said. “New technologies help reduce costs and improve efficiencies,
while driving increased production on the farm.”
