Sam's Club Set to Open in Jefferson City Thursday

New club supports local economy with jobs and $25,000 given in grants

Sam’s Club associates and managers will join with local residents and officials to open the company’s newest location at 849 Stoneridge Blvd. in Jefferson City this Thursday, July 23 following an 8 a.m. grand opening ceremony.

“Our team of 175 new associates from Jefferson City and surrounding communities are very excited to be opening our doors to the public,” said Club Manager Jeremy Jones. “We think members will be excited about the value they’ll discover inside this beautiful new building.”

New Club Gives $25,000 to Local Non-Profit Groups

The grand opening celebration will focus on the company’s commitment to being a club of the community. Sam’s Club associates selected several local non-profit organizations to receive $25,000 in community giving grants. Grant award winners include:

“At Sam’s Club we have a long-standing history of giving back to the communities we serve and our associates have selected some great organizations to receive $25,000 in grants through our local giving program,” added Jones.

Last year, Sam’s Club and Walmart stores in Missouri provided close to $45 million dollars in cash and in-kind donations to nonprofit organizations in the state. These donations represent community grants, food donations and associate volunteer efforts from stores, clubs and the Walmart Foundation.

Grand opening ceremony features local officials, special events

Jefferson City Mayor Carrie Tergin and members of the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce will be among those in attendance at Thursday’s grand opening ceremony. The American Legion will present colors and Sam’s Club associate Debbie Strickfaden will perform the national anthem.

Sam’s Club will also showcase a variety of food samples and product demonstrations. Special events include Vitamix Blenders, DFS Gourmet Butters and Rhineland Knifes to name a few.

To add to the excitement of the grand opening weekend, the club will host former University of Missouri football player and five-time Pro Bowl Defensive End Justin Smith. He’ll be meeting fans and signing autographs on Saturday, July 25 from 1 – 3 pm.

Pharmacy and Hearing Center among Amenities

The Jefferson City club will have a full-service pharmacy where members and the public can take advantage of great savings on medications they use every day. Free grand opening health screenings will assess cholesterol, blood pressure, vision, hearing and a variety of other wellness areas. They will run Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday.

The new Sam’s Club features a shopper-friendly interior layout and measures approximately 136,000 square feet. Members can rely on fresh produce, quality meats, and home meal solutions among the huge selection of merchandise. The club also boasts an array of service offerings for its members. In addition to the pharmacy, the club also features an Optical department and Hearing Aid Center. Members can find services tailored to their business needs such as credit card payment processing, mobile payroll and legal services.
