TYSONS CORNER, Va., Aug. 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- MicroStrategy® Incorporated (Nasdaq: MSTR), a leading worldwide provider of enterprise software platforms, today announced that Usher, MicroStrategy's advanced enterprise security solution that is designed to replace vulnerable security measures such as passwords and keycards, has been certified by The FIDO (Fast IDentity Online) Alliance. Usher has passed a rigorous series of tests that measure compliance with the FIDO Universal Authentication Framework (UAF) and confirm interoperability with other FIDO Certified products and services that support FIDO 1.0 specifications.
"Achieving FIDO certification demonstrates MicroStrategy's dedication to providing our customers and the marketplace with an innovative mobile security solution that ends the password nightmare," said Jonathan Klein, President, MicroStrategy Incorporated. "Our customers can now use Usher to adopt the FIDO UAF standard in a matter of minutes—quickly making great improvements to their security. We encourage governments, businesses, and organizations to move beyond the antiquated password model and try out Usher's robust and secure multi-factor authentication solution."
The FIDO Alliance, a coalition of vendors that includes Microsoft, Google, Intel, Lenovo, RSA, Samsung, Qualcomm, and various credit card companies, has developed open specifications for stronger, more secure authentication. FIDO certification is performed using a set of test tools developed by the FIDO Alliance, followed by participation in a proctored interoperability event. The current FIDO Certified testing complements the previous FIDO Ready™ program. With this accomplishment, MicroStrategy joins a growing list of technology and financial services providers that have passed FIDO UAF certification.
"MicroStrategy has been an active supporter of the FIDO Alliance and its mission as both parties share a deep commitment to advancing security measures through effective authentication," said Brett McDowell, executive director of the FIDO Alliance. "The FIDO Certified program offers the type of oversight that organizations need to hasten the adoption of strong authentication products that stretch across enterprise boundaries and a broad range of other devices that are critical in today's computing environment."
By delivering strong, multi-factor authentication that can be extended to nearly every corporate system, Usher's enterprise mobile security solution addresses some of the biggest challenges facing corporations today — including authentication, cybersecurity, identity and access management, and resource authorization — while applying industry-leading business intelligence and analytics to an enterprise's security infrastructure. Through the use of Bluetooth®, QR codes, or time-limited PIN codes, Usher users can log into applications, unlock doors, and validate each other's identities. Usher can also be used as a powerful workforce management resource because it is designed to enable managers to gain a new real-time window into the activity of their distributed workforces, while providing powerful interactive features to manage or direct them. Usher is available as an on-premises software platform and also as a hosted service. For more information about Usher, visit: www.usher.com.
