Sinfonia Family Services of Florida to Provide Alternative to State-Funded Residential Care for Youth

MODV

GAINSVILLE, Fla., Aug. 17, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sinfonia Family Services Florida - behavioral health division of Sinfonia HealthCare Corporation - has announced their implementation of a Children's Community Action Team (CAT) on August 1. CAT programs offer intensive clinical behavioral health services to families living with youth aged 11-21 who are at risk of institutional placement due to mental health issues, substance abuse, or co-occurring disorders.

The company's Gainesville office is located at 17 N.W. 33rd Court; however, delivery of CAT services will be primarily community based, with treatment provided in youth's homes, schools, and workplaces. The service delivery team includes case managers, licensed clinicians, psychiatrists, and therapeutic mentors. Services offered are crisis intervention, development of natural support networks, case management, individual and family therapy, psychiatric evaluation and treatment, family education, transportation, tutoring, substance abuse treatment, and therapeutic mentoring.

Michael Evans, Chief Executive Officer, stated, "Sinfonia Family Services of Florida is excited to provide CAT services in Alachua County. The community action team concept utilizes a multidisciplinary, person-centered approach to coordinate treatment interventions and natural supports. Services are tailored to the individual needs of youth, allowing them to remain successfully in their homes and communities and offering a lower cost alternative to foster care, juvenile/criminal justice, or residential care. Our goal is to serve a minimum of 35 clients and their families each month."

"We are very happy to be able to impact the lives of families in Alachua County by keeping children in their homes and communities," stated Jo-Ann Prisco, Sinfonia HealthCare Corporation Executive Vice President. Jo-Ann is responsible for introducing Sinfonia Family Services and their unique continuum in eastern markets.
