TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - September 11, 2015) - ViXS Systems Inc. (TSX: VXS), a pioneer and leader in media processing solutions, today announced the availability of the GRD2 platform with support for static HDR metadata, which enables the transfer of HDR content for viewing. This will enable the industry to progress with validating The Handshaking connectivity and Metadata exchange associated with the deployment of HDR content. This metadata will be passed over the HDMI interface as specified in the latest HDMI 2.0a specification. In addition to HDR, GRD2 users will be able to use the BT.2020 color space, an expanded spectrum that shows more colours and increased depths that more closely mimic what the human eye sees, to enhance the quality of video resulting in a more lifelike and vivid experience. Over 45 tier-1 operators, encoder/transcoder manufacturers, studios, and content creators have successfully used the ViXS Golden Reference Decoder to test and validate content, playing a key part to move the industry forward in the transition to Ultra HD. ViXS once again continues to set the standard and build a brand as an innovator and leader during this technology shift. HDR is clearly established as a requirement and a market catalyst for deploying Ultra HD solutions with an immense visual benefit to the consumer viewing experience.
