Air Products Recognized for Leadership by Dow Jones Sustainability Index

APD

LEHIGH VALLEY, Pa., Sept. 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Air Products (NYSE: APD) has been named to the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index (DJSI) 2015/2016, again ranked among the top 20 percent of companies in its industry for corporate sustainability performance.

Annually, RobecoSAM invites more than 3,000 publicly traded companies to complete its Corporate Sustainability Assessment, which is used to evaluate their economic, environmental, social and governance practices. Based on an assessment of general and industry-specific sustainability criteria, companies best managing sustainability opportunities and risks are then selected for inclusion in the DJSI Indices.

For the past several years, Air Products had also been included in the DJSI World Index and this year, improved its performance and scores in many categories. However, the sustainability bar continues to rise and the company did not improve as strongly as some of the companies in its industry sector.

Seifi Ghasemi, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Air Products, said, "Our
'Grow − Conserve – Care' approach to managing sustainability is rooted in our fundamental belief that good sustainability practices lead to long-term shareholder value and competitive advantage. Our inclusion again this year in the DJSI North America Index is an honor, and I want to commend all of this year's Index constituents for their drive for continuous improvement in sustainability. With our new company structure and focus on becoming the safest and most profitable industrial gas company in the world, we are refining our sustainability program and looking for opportunities to deliver even more value for our stakeholders over time."

In addition to the DJSI North America Index, Air Products remains a component of other sustainability indices and is recognized for its sustainability practices and achievements around the globe.
