MoSys LineSpeed PHY IC and Ixia Xcellon QSFP28 Enhanced 100G Load
Module Verify Seamless Communication Utilizing Latest IEEE 802.3bj
Clause 91 RS-FEC Standard
MoSys
(NASDAQ: MOSY), a leader in semiconductor solutions that enable fast,
intelligent data access for network and communications systems, and Ixia
(NASDAQ: XXIA), a leading provider of application performance and
security resilience solutions, today announced they have verified
interoperability of 100G Ethernet with RS-FEC encoded traffic between
the new MoSys®
LineSpeed 100G PHYs and the Ixia Xcellon™-Multis QSFP28 test
platform. Interoperability of the MoSys 100G PHY technology with Ixia's
industry-leading 100GE QSFP28 test platform confirms compliance to the
latest IEEE 100G RS-FEC standard.
The Reed Solomon Forward Error Correction (RS-FEC), specified in the
IEEE 802.3bj specification Clause91 for 100GE, improves signal integrity
and effective bit error rate in electrical and optical links by encoding
data and correcting bit errors. The technology has become prevalent in
100G standards, including 100GBASE-CR4, KR4, and SR4, as well as MSA
optical module standards such as CWDM4 and PSM4. Support of RS-FEC
technology is required to be compliant to these latest 100G standards.
The RS-FEC technology developed by MoSys is integrated into multiple
products in the MoSys LineSpeed family, including retimer and gearbox
devices.
The Ixia QSFP28 load module used to verify MoSys' 100G RS-FEC technology
on 100G gearbox and retimer products is Ixia's Xcellon-Multis
QSFP28 Enhanced 100GE load module. The load module offers
multiple 100GE ports, flexibility, bandwidth and testing horsepower
within a single line card and provides an extensive platform
for 100GBASE-SR4, 100GBASE-CR4, 25GBASE-CR1, Auto-Negotiation, FEC, and
link training interoperability, functional and performance testing. In
addition to link interoperability testing, the Ixia system can be
configured to test higher layers, including L2/3 Routing, Bridging,
Timing, Data Center/SDN, and Broadband Access protocol emulation.
"We were pleased to confirm both 100G electrical and 100G RS-FEC
interoperability of our latest LineSpeed devices with an industry
accepted platform like the Ixia Xcellon," stated John
Monson, VP of marketing and sales for MoSys. "Industry
interoperability is important to validate our conformance and to ensure
that these new 100G standards are compatible, robust and economical."
"Ixia had introduced the Xcellon-Multis high density QSFP28 100GE load
module to validate industry-wide Ethernet interoperability, network
reliability and performance," said Sunil
Kalidindi, VP of Product Management Network Test Systems at Ixia.
"Interoperability with the MoSys LineSpeed 100G PHY with RS-FEC is a
positive confirmation that both test and PHY products are ready for
deployment under the new 100GE standards."
