Prudential Financial promotes Ann Kappler and Margaret M. Foran to Senior Vice President

PRU

Prudential Financial, Inc. (NYSE:PRU) announced today that it has promoted Ann Kappler and Margaret M. Foran to the rank of senior vice president. Both Kappler and Foran will continue to report to Tim Harris, who was recently appointed executive vice president and general counsel for the company.

Kappler has served as deputy general counsel and head of External Affairs at Prudential since 2014. In this role, she has overseen all litigation and significant regulatory matters, and managed the company’s federal, state and international government affairs activities. In her recently expanded role, she has also assumed responsibility for Employment and ERISA Law, Financial Management Law, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Public Policy.

“Ann has provided exceptional leadership to our external affairs and regulatory efforts, particularly as we continue to navigate the new regulatory landscape,” said John Strangfeld, chairman and CEO of Prudential. “The expansion of her responsibilities reflects the positive impact she has had on our company through her keen legal acumen and intuitive strategic insights.”

Prior to joining Prudential, Kappler was a partner at two law firms in Washington D.C. and served as general counsel at Fannie Mae. She graduated from Dartmouth College and received her law degree from New York University School of Law, where she served as editor-in-chief of the Law Review.

Foran has served as Prudential’s chief governance officer, vice president and corporate secretary since 2009. In this role, she has also overseen Shareholder Services, and the Mergers and Acquisitions, Disclosures, Capital Markets, and Derivatives divisions within Prudential’s Law Department.

“Peggy has helped establish Prudential as a leader in corporate governance, reflecting her strong external relationships, strategic insights and recognized expertise,” said Strangfeld. “In addition to providing outstanding support to our Board of Directors, Peggy has strengthened our engagement with shareholders through proactive outreach, improved impact of our stakeholder communications, and increased the transparency and effectiveness of our overall approach to governance.”

Prior to joining Prudential, Foran was executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of Sara Lee Corporation and held many senior positions with other Fortune 500 companies. Foran is a director of Occidental Petroleum Corporation and chairperson of the Board’s Corporate Governance, Nominating and Social Responsibility Committee. She previously served on the Board of Directors of The MONY Group Inc. and MONY Life Insurance Company.

Foran has been recognized as one of the Most Influential People in Corporate Governance by Directorship Magazine for five consecutive years. In 2013, Corporate Secretary Magazine named Ms. Foran “Governance Professional of the Year.” In 2015, Foran received the Linda Quinn Lifetime Achievement Award from TheCorporateCounsel.net. She received B.A. (Magna Cum Laude) and J.D. degrees from the University of Notre Dame.
