The complete MultiConnect LoRaWAN-ready portfolio includes the Conduit™
gateway featuring a LoRa concentrator mCard™
accessory card and mDot™
low cost LoRa module. Together they comprise a configurable,
manageable and scalable communications solution for industrial Internet
of Things (IoT) applications. The Conduit can be configured broadly with
a LoRa access card and a wide range of wired or wireless backhaul
options, including Ethernet and network-approved cellular connectivity
options.
Each Conduit gateway is capable of managing thousands of mDots, in
either private or public IoT network applications. The flexibility and
performance of the system makes it an ideal solution for agricultural,
industrial, utility, smart city and healthcare applications.
The configurable MultiConnect Conduit gateway accepts up to two mCard
accessory cards, including an eight channel LoRa concentrator mCard that
is powered by the Semtech SX1301 baseband processor. The SX1301 is a
high-performance, high-capacity digital signal-processing engine
combined with a LoRa multichannel transceiver that can connect with
multiple wireless endpoints. The SX1301 supports worldwide industrial,
scientific and medical unlicensed RF bands.
MultiTech has also selected the SX1272 transceiver for its MultiConnect
mDot™ LoRaWAN-ready long-range RF module. The MultiConnect mDot is
capable of two-way communication and features a low-power ARM®
Cortex®-M4 processor that can be programmed through ARM mbedTM
to support a wide range of applications.
Using the LoRa modulation scheme, the SX1272 realizes a sensitivity of
more than -137 dBm, which, when combined with the integrated +20 dBm
power amplifier, yields the low-power, wide-area (LPWAN) industry’s
leading link budget. This makes the SX1272 optimal for IoT or
machine-to-machine (M2M) applications requiring long range or robustness.
“We are committed to being innovators and first movers in the LoRa
market, and we believe that the MultiConnect Conduit and mDot comprise a
LoRa product portfolio that sets a high standard,” said Daniel Quant,
Vice President, Product Management and Strategic Marketing at MultiTech.
“Semtech has been a great partner thanks to its high-performance
products and also its in-depth knowledge of the LoRaWAN standard.”
“Companies are choosing LoRaWAN solutions for their long-range RF
performance, which supports a wide range of applications, and the
MultiTech MultiConnect system is a great example of this,” said Hardy
Schmidbauer, Director of Wireless Products at Semtech.
Semtech and MultiTech are both members of the LoRa
Alliance, an international group of IoT industry leaders, telecom
operators and solutions providers that work to globally standardize
LoRaWAN and provide an open platform to scale IoT, M2M and smart city
applications.
