SanDisk EPIC is a SanDisk led marketing initiative which strives to
foster and proliferate the incorporation of professional-quality imaging
capabilities in the mobile ecosystem. SanDisk EPIC guidelines for
smartphones are made up of criteria for the entire smartphone system
including cameras, hardware, software, applications processors, flash
storage and more.
In meeting the SanDisk EPIC guidelines for smartphones, the LG V10
offers a variety of advanced video and professional-grade photography
capabilities, including, among others, multi-shot image capture in
uncompressed format (also known as RAW) and 4K Ultra HD video recording
and playback. These capabilities are enhanced by the storage performance
of the iNAND 7232 storage solution used in the LG V10. The iNAND 7232
storage solution is optimized to improve 4K Ultra HD video playback and
“frames-per-second” (FPS) speeds during the display of images.
“LG has once again reaffirmed their leadership in smartphone imaging and
video with the LG V10, and we are proud to recognize it as the first
SanDisk ‘EPIC’ smartphone,” said Christopher Bergey, vice president and
general manager of Mobile and Tablet Solutions at SanDisk. “The LG V10
smartphone is an exciting step forward for the SanDisk EPIC initiative.
Leveraging SanDisk’s deep understanding of flash storage, digital
imaging and the mobile ecosystem, our EPIC marketing initiative is
uniquely bringing together ecosystem hardware, software and storage to
break new ground in smartphone imaging.”
“An increasing number of our customers rely on their smartphone as their
primary device to capture their memories in both photos and video. So,
it was critically important to us to give the LG V10 truly exceptional
imaging capabilities. We are thrilled for our LG V10 to be the first
smartphone to meet SanDisk’s EPIC guidelines,” said Dr. Ramchan Woo,
vice president of LG mobile communications. “Working with SanDisk
through the EPIC initiative combined our hardware innovation with flash
storage in an exciting way. The usage of the iNAND 7232 storage solution
enhances the responsiveness of the great camera and video features that
we built into the LG V10, resulting in an outstanding user experience
for consumers.”

iNAND 7232 Storage Solution Delivers Best-in-Class Photo and Video
Experience
Boasting sequential write speeds of up to 150MB/s, or 1.2 gigabit (Gb)2
per second, the intelligent 64GB iNAND 7232 storage solution used in the
LG V10 works with the smartphone’s innovative camera and video features
to further optimize the responsiveness of the user experience. The iNAND
7232 EFD features SanDisk’s second-generation SmartSLC technology, a
unique, break-through storage architecture that quickly and
intelligently responds on demand to mobile users’ changing needs. LG and
SanDisk worked closely to test the iNAND 7232 EFD with the LG V10’s
advanced camera and imaging technology in a variety of extreme
conditions to ensure a fast storage experience when users capture photo
and videos.
The responsiveness of the iNAND 7232 EFD also complements the innovative
video performance of the LG V10. The LG V10 is the first smartphone to
feature Manual Video Mode, which enables users to easily create
professional-quality videos by adjusting recording settings such as
shutter speed, frame rate, ISO, white balance and focus. The iNAND 7232
storage solution further enhances the video recording and playback
capabilities on the LG V10 – in HD, Full HD and even 4K Ultra HD.
Expanding the Possibilities with Removable Storage
The LG V10 includes a slot to enable additional storage through a
microSD™ card. The LG V10 smartphone is compatible with variety of
SanDisk cards, including the 200GB
SanDisk Ultra® microSDXC™ UHS-I card, Premium Edition,
the world’s highest capacity microSD card currently available. The 200GB
SanDisk Ultra microSDXC card provides ample additional capacity to store
hours of 4K Ultra HD video or tens of thousands of photos3.
