Being the first Digital Healthcare Innovator of the Year award recipient
is a fitting storyline for Teladoc, the nation’s first and largest
telehealth provider. The company also hit milestones for becoming the
first telehealth company to go public in July 2015, and the first to
complete 1 million telehealth visits. Members use Teladoc’s services for
remote care of non-emergency medical issues when they are unable to
visit their physician, such as after office hours, on weekends, holidays
or while traveling.
“I’m honored, on behalf of the entire Teladoc team, to receive this
recognition. This award underscores our commitment to bridging the gap
in healthcare access by putting more people in a position to access
high-quality care on their terms – when, where and however they want,”
Gorevic said.
He will receive the award during the Digital Healthcare Innovation
Summit on November 3 at the Mandarin Oriental in Boston. In its fifth
year, the Digital Healthcare Innovation Summit draws nationally-renowned
leaders in healthcare to evaluate the more disruptive solutions to the
health care conundrum. Leading stakeholders from hospitals, insurers and
critical regulatory bodies share notes with the technology industry’s
top innovators, investors and entrepreneurs to determine how technology
can unwrap the inefficiencies of the massive healthcare sector.
“I’ve known Jason for 20 years and believe this award is fitting for
him. Jason has phenomenal analytic capabilities that he uses to make
very good decisions,” said David Snow, chairman and CEO of Cedar Gate
Technologies and chairman of Teladoc’s Board of Directors. “He’s willing
to take risks around innovation once he’s done his analysis, and he gets
it right 99 percent of the time, which few people can do.”
For its part, Teladoc has built the first nationally independent
physician network in telehealth with more than 1,500 board-certified,
state-licensed physicians and behavioral health professionals. As the
only NCQA-certified telehealth provider, Teladoc’s rigorous
credentialing process and ongoing quality assurance efforts ensure the
highest quality of care for its members. In 2014, Teladoc physicians
performed more than 298,000 visits and are expected to surpass 525,000
telehealth visits in 2015.
Gorevic has helped expand Teladoc’s services to include behavioral
health, dermatology, tobacco cessation and sexual health. For more
