Industry-Leading Brands MSDSonline and Brady Expand GHS Labeling Compatibility

Additional Printer Option Streamlines Workplace Labeling Process for EHS Professionals

CHICAGO, Oct. 29, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- VelocityEHS – a leading cloud environmental, health and safety (EHS) software provider – today announced that customers using its MSDSonline brand chemical management solution can now print workplace labels in the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) format using the popular Brady's BBP®31 label printer. The continued collaboration with Brady Corporation – a global leader in product and facility identification solutions – further demonstrates each company's commitment to helping safety professionals better manage GHS compliance requirements.

The BBP®31 joins another widely-used Brady product, the BBP®33 label printer, to further streamline the workplace printing process. MSDSonline users can extract label-required chemical hazard information from data already indexed and saved in their MSDSonline account.

"OSHA recently announced that Hazard Communication is OSHA's second most cited violation for the fourth year in a row. One of areas OSHA spotlights as a big driver of violations is improper labeling. Companies need workplace labels that accurately explain to workers the hazards associated with the chemicals they come in contact with," said Glenn Trout, president and CEO of VelocityEHS. "The compatibility of our solution with an additional Brady printer gives safety managers yet another way to create labels that help keep workplaces safer for all."

A fundamental element of the GHS transition is consistent hazardous chemical labeling. While OSHA's revised Hazard Communication Standard does not outline the specific elements required for workplace labels, a best practice is to replicate the hazard information found on the manufacturer label. Through this labeling enhancement, safety managers can now create workplace labels that are automatically formatted to include these new GHS label elements as derived from their inventory of existing safety data sheets and print directly to the Brady BBP®33 and BBP®31 label printers. MSDSonline HQ and HQ RegXR account users currently have access to the Brady printer enhancements.
