Leveraging its position as an industry leader in building
energy-efficient homes, KB Home plans to include Carrier’s new smart
thermostat in its homes across the country
KB Home (NYSE: KBH), one of the nation’s largest and most recognized
homebuilders, today announced that homes at nearly all of its
newly-opened communities in 2016 and beyond will include a Carrier® Côr
thermostat, a smart-home technology designed to help homeowners save
energy, as well as maximize their convenience and comfort.
Using Wi-Fi technology and sophisticated software, the Côr thermostat
learns the characteristics of a home and the way homeowners live in it,
then analyzes outside weather patterns to intelligently adapt heating
and cooling system performance for greater efficiency and comfort.
The Côr thermostat’s smartphone-like touchscreen and sleek design
provide an enhanced and intuitive user experience, making it easy for KB
homeowners to take advantage of its wide range of benefits. Users can
control their home’s heating and cooling and monitor their energy
consumption conveniently from any smart device, or let Côr’s technology
automatically adjust temperature settings for them.
Incorporating the Côr interactive thermostat is the builder's latest in
a series of continual improvements to the sustainability of its new
homes. All KB homes are ENERGY STAR® certified, have WaterSense® labeled
fixtures, and include materials, systems and other features that are
designed to promote a healthier indoor environment.
“As one of the nation’s leading homebuilders, we understand the
importance of designing our homes to support today’s connected
lifestyles,” said Dan Bridleman, senior vice president of
Sustainability, Technology and Strategic Sourcing at KB Home. “By
equipping KB homes with Carrier’s innovative Côr thermostat, we empower
our homeowners to better control their home’s energy usage, right from
their fingertips.”
While Côr offers standard comfort modes for optimal performance during
various times of day, its settings can also be customized to suit
individual preferences and for specific circumstances, such as
“Exercising” or “Working from Home.”
Côr also monitors energy use patterns and delivers state-of-the-art
usage reports as well as customized energy-conserving tips to help
homeowners understand their heating and cooling system’s performance and
make modifications to help maximize energy savings.
