Businesses in Atlantic Canada will benefit from local technology services combined with a national reach

HALIFAX, Dec. 1, 2015 /CNW/ - Rogers Communications announced today that it has acquired Internetworking Atlantic Inc. (IAI) to provide enhanced technology solutions and services for businesses and public sector clients in Atlantic Canada. The acquisition of IAI enables Rogers to offer greater local expertise in the areas of cloud computing, data centre services, fibre networking and professional services.

"In today's digital economy, businesses of all sizes and industries are relying on technology to achieve business outcomes," said Nitin Kawale, President, Enterprise Business Unit, Rogers Communications. "The expertise IAI provides in data centre services, cloud solutions and fibre networking will benefit businesses from large to small. This local expertise and service combined with our national network and business capabilities will provide customers with the solutions they need to drive growth."

As part of the transaction, Rogers will enhance its capabilities in the region with the following assets:

  • Halifax-based Data Centre: This acquisition will increase Rogers' national data centre footprint to 16 data centres across the country. The Halifax data centre provides secure and certified colocation and storage needs to businesses and organizations across the region.
  • Virtual and Hosted Services: IAI's expertise in cloud is unparalleled in the region. Customers will benefit from Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) capabilities run over IAI's internet and extensive fibre network.
  • Professional Services: A team of professionals allow customers to outsource their IT and networking needs while providing them with around-the-clock management and monitoring of services.
  • Fibre Infrastructure: An extensive fibre footprint across Atlantic Canada.

"The additional local expertise that our new employees bring to our team in Atlantic Canada will continue to drive regional growth," said Ken Marshall, Vice President EBU Sales, Atlantic Region, Rogers Communications. "This strategic investment is key to supporting our growing client base, particularly in the large and medium business sectors."
