Bring Your Green Challenge Seeking Green Ideas from the Community

AES

The Bring Your Green Challenge, a program of Dayton Regional Green, Dayton Power and Light (DP&L) and Vectren, is offering a $500 cash prize to encourage the public to submit innovative “Green Ideas.”

The idea or project must promote environmentally-friendly practices in the Miami Valley that can generate sustainable solutions such as energy savings, carbon reduction, conservation, resource management and/or sustainable mobility. Bring Your Green is seeking ideas that help the environment and create healthier and more sustainable communities where all can live, work and play.

Bring Your Green is accepting Green Ideas from the community through February 15, 2016. The Dayton Regional Green Leadership Panel will vote to select the best community Green Idea and winner of the $500 prize.

All ideas will be presented to Dayton Regional Green Action Teams for consideration as they develop 2016 Sustainability Grant proposals for a chance at a share of $20,000 in grant funding offered by Vectren Corporation. Bring Your Green participants will vote on the Sustainability Grant proposals to determine which project(s) will receive funding.

“The community Green Idea is meant to increase overall awareness of sustainable living and create a ’buzz’ in the community as well as bring awareness of the Dayton Regional Green Action Teams,” said Montgomery County Commission President Debbie Lieberman. “All ideas large and small are welcome and encouraged.”

One of Vectren’s core values stands on the commitment of our contribution to the social, economic and environmental sustainability of the communities we serve,” said Colleen Ryan, president of Vectren Energy Delivery of Ohio. “The Bring Your Green Challenge naturally aligns with this pledge and Vectren is proud to provide grant monies that support transitioning green ideas into green realities.”

“Dayton Power and Light is a proud community partner, assisting Miami Valley residents and businesses by saving energy, protecting the environment and advancing economic development. The Bring Your Green Challenge highlights sustainable solutions, and DP&L is committed to encouraging these innovative green ideas and projects,” said DP&L President and CEO Tom Raga. “We look forward to seeing the results.”

You must reside in DP&L service territory to be eligible for the $500 prize. More information is available at bringyourgreen.com.

The Bring Your Green Challenge is a year-long competition among businesses, nonprofits and government agencies in the Miami Valley to reduce their environmental impact and save energy and resources while engaging their employees. 108 organizations with 192 locations are participating.
