MONTRÉAL, QUÉBEC--(Marketwired - Dec. 9, 2015) - Cogeco Cable Inc. ("Cogeco Cable" or "the Corporation") (TSX:CCA) has announced its intention to change its name to Cogeco Communications Inc. This new name better expresses the company's footprint, and clearly and strongly evokes its profile and unique areas of expertise to all its internal or external stakeholders.
In order to make a change to the public company's name, the Corporation must obtain the approval of its shareholders. As such, this topic was added to the agenda in the proxy circular to be delivered to Cogeco Cable shareholders the week of December 14, and voting on the new name will take place at Cogeco Cable's annual shareholders' meeting, which will be held in Montréal, Québec on January 13, 2016.
In addition, the Corporation is currently undertaking a review of the name of its subsidiary, Cogeco Cable Canada. This analysis is still in the development stages and more information will be shared should any further changes take place as a result of this exercise.
