Advocate for the elderly works to protect branches, customers and
associates from harm
Regions
Bank today announced that Vici Warfield, Corporate Security
Investigator in Indianapolis, Ind., is the January 2016 recipient of the
Regions Bank Better Life Award. The Better Life Award is the top honor
given to a Regions associate for outstanding dedication and job
performance as well as exemplary involvement and commitment to the
community.
In addition to the recognition, Regions donates $1,000 in the name of
the recipient to a nonprofit organization of the winner’s choice.
Warfield chose Meals on Wheels of Central Indiana, a group she has
supported for years because the program once helped her late mother.
Warfield’s mother was also once a victim of elder financial abuse. That
drives Warfield to fight daily to help bank customers avoid fraud.
“My mom didn’t tell me about it at first because she was afraid we’d
take away her independence if we knew. The elderly are abused all the
time, and they often don’t speak up for that same reason,” Warfield
said. “I train our branch associates to watch out for these kinds of
things. It’s something that hits very close to home for me.”
“Vici goes above and beyond, exhausting all resources in elder abuse
cases,” said Neil Taylor, Regions’ Area Security Manager for Indiana.
“She treats every victim as though they were her own mother. Great news
for the victims, bad news for the perpetrators.”
In her 23 years at Regions, Warfield has helped law enforcement solve
many bank crime cases. She has also trained many associates on the
proper way to respond if they ever face physical danger or suspect
questionable activity in the bank. Many credit her training for their
ability to maintain control in unpredictable situations. They know she
does it because she cares.
“That’s what I’m in it for: the people. The customers and the
associates,” Warfield said. “I care about every last one of them. I want
them to know that I’m always working to keep them safe.”
