Sam's Club to Accept Visa Credit Cards

V, WMT

Consumers Offered Expanded Choice and Convenience with Visa Acceptance at Sam’s Club Locations

Visa Inc. (NYSE:V) and Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE:WMT) today announced that the companies have entered into an agreement through which Sam’s Club locations will accept Visa credit cards starting February 1, 2016.

“Everything we do is in an effort to better serve our members and extend the value of membership. By accepting Visa credit cards, we are giving our members more ways to shop that are convenient for them,” says Tracey Brown, chief member officer at Sam’s Club.

“Sam’s Club is the eighth largest retailer in the U.S. and we are thrilled to open up Visa credit acceptance in their more than 650 clubs across the U.S. and Puerto Rico,” said Ramón Martín, senior vice president, merchant solutions, Visa Inc. “Whether in person or online, our goal is to ensure payments are fast, easy and secure for cardholders everywhere they wish to shop.”

Sam’s Club currently accepts Visa debit and prepaid products at its clubs, as well as Visa credit at its fuel stations in the United States, and online at Samsclub.com. Later this year, Samsclub.com will also begin supporting Visa Checkout.

About Visa Inc.

Visa Inc. Visa is not a bank and does not issue cards, extend credit or set rates and fees for consumers. Visa’s innovations, however, enable its financial institution customers to offer consumers more choices: pay now with debit, ahead of time with prepaid or later with credit products.
