KANSAS CITY, MO --(Marketwired - February 12, 2016) - H&R Block (NYSE: HRB), the world's largest consumer tax preparation company, is wrapping up its 1,000 Win $1,000 Daily Sweepstakes as the Feb. 15 deadline approaches. This means 4,000 winners will be selected in the next four days to receive a total of $4 million.
"We have succeeded in putting the 'fun' in Refund Season," said Kathy Collins, H&R Block's chief marketing officer. "The excitement of celebrating with our winning clients gives our offices energy. We've seen the good the $1,000 on top of their refunds has done for our winners. We have been amazed at how the local communities have embraced this event. It feels fitting that the sweepstakes ends right after Valentine's Day."
As the daily drawings wrap up, there was plenty to celebrate this past month for our winners including life-saving medical needs, the birth of a child, reuniting with loved ones and of course vacations, good meals and plenty of electronics. Here's snapshot of the past month of winners.
- Winner statistics: most popular first name is Michael, most popular last name is Smith, the median age is 36 and state with the most winners is California
- Four winners have the last name "Valentine," two have "heart" in their last name and 24 have "love" in their last name
- There were 97 winners in Springfield in Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Missouri, Ohio, Oregon, Tennessee, South Carolina and Virginia -- giving rise to the thought that Springfield should be changed to "Greenfield."
Four days remain to enter sweepstakes
