LogistiCare Expands Executive Team to Pace Nationwide Growth

MODV

ATLANTA, Feb. 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- LogistiCare, the largest non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) manager in the country, has expanded its executive team, hiring three senior officers including Jim McGean, who joins as Chief Operating Officer.

LogistiCare COO Jim McGean

LogistiCare continued an impressive growth trend with a 25 percent increase through Q3 of 2015 fueled by new state and managed care organization contracts and increased membership.  The company works directly with state agencies and health plans in 39 states and the District of Columbia to manage Medicaid and Medicare NEMT programs that provide patients with reliable access to healthcare. In 2015, the company managed more than 65 million rides for nearly 24 million members.

Joining McGean as additions to the management team are Chief Information Officer Ed Ringer and Vice President of Managed Care Sales Caroline Smyth. Both McGean and Ringer will report to CEO Herman Schwarz.

"The momentum of our state and managed care business underscores the value, quality and flexibility of the transportation services we manage," Schwarz said. "With Jim, Ed, and Caroline on board, we will enhance our industry-leading ability to deliver reliable transportation services to a growing population including the most fragile patients."

As COO, McGean will manage daily operations, work to maintain and improve efficiencies, guide nationwide customer service operations, and support our relationships with members, clients, healthcare facilities and transportation providers.  He brings more than 25 years of expertise including his most recent role as president of Verizon Wireless' southern region, where he managed a $15 billion operation with 16,000 employees serving 20 million customers and more than 10,000 service locations. He earned a bachelor's degree from Emory University and an MBA from Georgia State University.

Ringer is an accomplished IT executive with nearly four decades of customer-focused technology experience. Before joining LogistiCare as CIO, he held leadership positions with Innotrac, an e-commerce fulfillment company, and Metadigm, an IT security firm. For LogistiCare, he will lead IT strategy and technical teams, oversee systems integration and ensure LogistiCare is using proven technology solutions to enhance efficiency and manage costs. Ringer is a graduate of University of Colorado.

Smyth brings more than 20 years of executive sales experience in healthcare information technology, working with Philips, McKesson, Cerner, Premier and companies across Europe, Asia and Australia to secure over 100 million in contracts. Originally from Ireland, she started her career as a registered nurse (RN) before transitioning to clinical information systems management and business development.  She studied critical care nursing at the University of Greenwich in London and completed nursing education at Southern Area College of Nursing in Northern Ireland prior to earning a Masters of Business Administration and Masters of Health Administration from Georgia State University.

"As Medicaid and Medicare Advantage populations become more familiar with the NEMT benefit and increased utilization trends continue, government officials and health plans seek greater efficiencies in their NEMT programs," Schwarz continued. "This service tailored to specific healthcare populations means Jim, Ed and Caroline will be instrumental in evolving our solutions to address unique needs. Their additions are indicative of continued investments in our proprietary logistics platform, electronic data interchanges, telecommunications systems, mobile technology and optimization tools to lead the industry in effective and efficient service.
