Voip-Pal.com Inc. Receives Allowance of its Third Lawful Intercept Patent; Its Technology Could Provide a Solution to the Current Legal Intercept Debate Between Apple, Google, Facebook and the FBI

VPLM

Voip-Pal.com Inc. (“Voip-Pal”, “Company”) (OTC Pink:VPLM) is pleased to announce receipt of the Notice of Allowance from the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for the Company’s “Intercepting Voice Over IP Communications and Other Data Communications,” Application No. 14/802,929. This is Voip-Pal’s third Lawful Intercept (LI) patent and its eleventh overall. It is the second continuation of the Lawful Intercept parent patent, US Patent No. 8,422,507. The previous LI continuation was issued in September 2015, as US Patent No. 9,143,608.

The technology associated with this newly allowed patent strengthens the Lawful Intercept parent patent and broadens the scope of its practical implementation specifically with regards to the interception of messaging. Over the past several years text messaging has become the leading form of wireless communication with billions of text messages sent each day and trillions each year. Voip-Pal’s Portfolio of patents, including Lawful Intercept, provide the necessary technology and systems by which today’s and the future telco operators can operate in a fully “legacy compliant” manner.

Commenting on the current debate between Apple, Google, Facebook and the FBI and Microsoft founder Bill Gates, Voip-Pal CEO, Emil Malak said, “I believe our technology, specifically our three Lawful Intercept patents, do provide a solution to this important discussion. Our Lawful Intercept patents provide the means for social networking platforms and telco operators to cooperate with law enforcement agencies whenever surveillance is judicially approved, by specifically targeting criminal and terror suspects while avoiding blanketed surveillance programs that violate subscriber privacy.” Malak concluded, “legislation may be required to allow other systems of internet telecommunications to comply with federal and state law. However, we have designed our Lawful Intercept patents to operate by the same rules as legacy telephony today.”
