EXC

ComEd’s Dunk Buie and Justin Odom were recognized with Modern Day Technology Leader Awards at the 2016 Black Engineer of the Year Awards (BEYA) Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Conference held recently in Philadelphia.

“Dunk and Justin have my deepest congratulations,” said Anne Pramaggiore, ComEd president and CEO. “Their innovative thinking is an inspiration to everyone at ComEd. It exemplifies the spirit of innovation that is a core value at ComEd.”

Buie, an eleven-year ComEd employee, is a Design Manager in the Chicago Regional Distribution Design Engineering department. In his role, he provides a focus on safety, productivity, quality and development to the Regional Distribution Design Engineering department. Buie also believes in giving back to the community. He has volunteered for the last four years in the Life Coaches for Young Men program at Rowe Clark Academy run by the Exelon African American Resource Alliance.

Odom, General Engineer at ComEd, has been with the company for four years. As a member of the New Business Design Team, he has designed primary power distribution systems for multiple buildings within the Chicago area. Odom has continued to pursue his passion for innovation by becoming a member of Cigre, an international electrical engineering professional group. He is one of two Americans on an international Cigre working group studying issues related to large surpluses and deficits of renewable energy resources on the electrical grid.

Eleven other employees from across the Exelon family of companies also were honored – four from BGE, in Baltimore, two from PECO, in Philadelphia, two from Constellation and three from Exelon. Ten Exelon presenters also served on conference panels.

The BEYA STEM Conference brings together students, college administrators, recruiters, engineering and IT professionals, scientists and high-level decision-makers from the corporate, government and military communities in an effort to broaden diversity in this country's technical and scientific work forces. The Modern Day Technology Leader Awards are presented to those who are shaping the future of STEM related industries.

Commonwealth Edison Company (ComEd) is a unit of Chicago-based Exelon Corporation (NYSE: EXC), the nation’s leading competitive energy provider, with approximately 6.6 million customers.
