PECO’s Dayton Duncan, of Phoenixville, and Melisa Fowler, of Middletown,
DE, were recognized with Modern Day Technology Leader Awards at the 2016
Black Engineer of the Year Awards (BEYA) Science, Technology,
Engineering and Math (STEM) Conference held recently in Philadelphia.
“Melisa and Dayton have my deepest congratulations,” said Craig Adams,

Duncan, an eight-year PECO employee, is the company’s lead underground
transmission system engineer. He also has served as regional engineer
installing electric service lines for residential and large business
customers. A strong commitment to community service and volunteerism,
Duncan achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, served as a Mathematics Adjunct
Professor at Temple University and has been an active “Big” for Big
Brothers Big Sisters.
Fowler, senior business project manager for PECO, has been with the
company for more than five years. She has led several large programs
including, enhancements to the company’s website, a project to educate
customers about electric and natural gas choice, and the company’s new
Interactive Voice Response system. Also active in the community, Fowler
volunteers for numerous events supporting community and nonprofit
organizations across the Philadelphia region, including serving on the
board of directors of the South Jersey chapter of Junior Achievement.
Eleven other employees from across the Exelon family of companies also
were honored – four from BGE, in Baltimore, two from ComEd, in Chicago,
two from Constellation, two from Exelon Generation and one from Exelon
Business Services. Ten Exelon presenters, including Duncan, Fowler and
PECO’s Vice President of Gas Operations, Ron Bradley, also served on
conference panels.
The BEYA STEM Conference brings together students, college
administrators, recruiters, engineering and IT professionals, scientists
and high-level decision-makers from the corporate, government and
military communities in an effort to broaden diversity in this country's
technical and scientific work forces. The Modern Day Technology Leader
Awards are presented to those who are shaping the future of STEM related
industries.
