TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - March 07, 2016) - As tax season swings into full force, Visa Canada announced today that Canadians can now make payments online to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) using Visa Debit.
"We are thrilled that Canadians can now use Visa Debit to pay their taxes directly from their bank accounts," said Brian Weiner, Head of Product and Innovation, Visa Canada. "Our goal is to offer cardholders convenient and secure payments wherever they want to pay. We are very pleased that the Canada Revenue Agency will be accepting Visa Debit just in time for tax season."
To make a payment to the Canada Revenue Agency, Canadians who have debit card issued by a Canadian bank with a Visa Debit logo can visit the 'My Payment' page on the CRA website. In Canada, Visa Debit cards are currently issued by CIBC, Royal Bank of Canada, Scotiabank and TD Bank Group.
Visa Debit launched in Canada in 2010, and offers cardholders the ability to pay directly from their bank account online where Visa Debit is accepted, and at cross-border point-of-sale terminals. Visa Debit cards can be identified by their 16-digit card number and the Visa Debit logo. In Canada, most Visa Debit cards are co-badged, which means that the Visa Debit functionality exists on the customer's bank debit card.
