Exelon’s Kathleen Barrón to address the role of energy policy in
achieving greenhouse gas emission reductions
Exelon is a lead sponsor of the fifth-annual Climate Leadership
Conference in Seattle this week, which brings together a global audience
of climate, energy, and sustainability professionals to address climate
change through policy, innovation, and business solutions.
“Exelon has been a longtime leader in reducing carbon and other
emissions from the power sector for the benefit of our customers and
communities,” said Kathleen Barrón, senior vice president of federal
regulatory affairs and wholesale market policy at Exelon. “We are
pleased to be part of the national conversation on climate with the
business and sustainability communities and to share our perspectives on
how to achieve further reductions.”
On Mar. 9, Barrón will participate in a plenary session titled, “Meeting
Greenhouse Gas Reduction Demands through Climate and Energy Policy.”
Joining her will be U.S. EPA Chief, Energy Supply and Industry Branch
Matt Clouse; Executive Director and General Counsel of the Environmental
Council of the States Alexandra Dunn; and former Colorado Governor and
Founder and Director of the Center for the New Energy Economy Bill
Ritter, Jr.
Exelon is a national leader in clean energy and sustainability and
strongly supports EPA’s goal of reducing carbon emissions from the
electric power system. Exelon operates the nation’s largest zero-carbon
electricity generation fleet, supporting the national effort to further
reduce emissions. The company also invests in technological innovation
and grid resilience to help keep electricity reliable and affordable in
a changing climate. For its leadership in climate change transparency,
Exelon was named to CDP’s Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index in 2015,
marking the sixth time the energy company has appeared on the index.
“The Climate Leadership Conference offers a powerful platform for
bringing together leaders from around the world to address climate
change,” said conference cohosts David Rosenheim, executive director of
The Climate Registry, and Bob Perciasepe, president of the Center for
Climate and Energy Solutions. “We thank supporters like Exelon for
contributing to this meaningful collaboration - connecting people,
innovation, and opportunity.”
