WU

Western Union digital kiosks gain momentum across Americas, Europe & Asia

The Western Union Company (NYSE: WU), a leader in global payment services, has expanded the global footprint of its digital self-service kiosks, unveiling services at Franprix, the leading French convenience store chain that is part of the Casino group.

This new relationship with Franprix inaugurates Western Union’s presence in the French supermarket chain arena. This will enable Franprix’s customers to send or receive money to and from more than 200 countries and territories. The service will ultimately be offered across more than 300 Franprix locations.

Western Union’s strategy to provide an integrated retail and digital customer experience is designed to make it convenient for customers to complete their money transfer transactions by simply using self-service kiosks, while shopping or visiting a retail shop. Customer transaction history, validation of personal details as a part of compliance controls, foreign exchange values and rates are available at the touch of a button.

“Western Union’s digital solution at walk-in retail locations is a win for all stakeholders: our customers get the convenience and control they want, and our retailers can offer more services with minimal space and staff requirements,” said Odilon Almeida, President, Americas and European Union.

“It forms a part of Western Union’s strategy to offer our customers multi-channel choice, suited to their specific money transfer needs, while delivering consistent customer service experience, of control, speed and reliability,” he said.

The digital kiosk offering is gaining momentum across the globe as large retailers look to offer more services to their customers with deployment across Americas, Europe and Asia. Kiosks are now available across the U.S., U.K., Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Mexico, Japan and Taiwan.
