Bankers Life Goes Purple to Spread Alzheimer's Awareness

CNO

Bankers Life and Alzheimer's Association will kick off "Forget Me Not Days" at Bankers Life Fieldhouse at April 6 Pacers game

CARMEL, Ind., April 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Bankers Life, a national life and health insurance brand of CNO Financial Group, is once again teaming up with the Alzheimer's Association Greater Indiana Chapter to raise awareness of Alzheimer's disease.

The annual Bankers Life Forget Me Not Days event, "Alzheimer's Awareness Night," will take place Wednesday, April 6, at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Volunteers outfitted in purple t-shirts will distribute packets of Forget-Me-Not flower seeds to the first 5,000 fans arriving at the Indiana Pacers vs. Cleveland Cavaliers game. Fans will be encouraged to plant the seeds at home in honor of Indiana's Alzheimer's patients and their families. Association helpline information is included on the packets for patients and families in need.

The event will also include purple cotton candy available for purchase. For every sale of the sweet treat, Bankers Life will donate $1 to the Alzheimer's Association Greater Indiana Chapter.

An estimated 5.3 million Americans – including 110,000 Hoosiers – live with Alzheimer's disease, and those numbers are projected to increase exponentially, according to the Alzheimer's Association.

"With so many in our community affected by Alzheimer's, Bankers Life remains committed to the fight against this disease," said Scott Goldberg, president of Bankers Life. "We are proud of our longstanding partnership with the Alzheimer's Association, which makes it possible for us to contribute toward the advancement of critical research and support programs for affected Hoosier families."

"Alzheimer's disease is the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States," said Leah Shattuck, communications director of the Alzheimer's Association Greater Indiana Chapter. "We appreciate the support of Bankers Life and CNO Financial Group for their remarkable efforts to raise funds and awareness of Alzheimer's disease, which helps provide care and education for affected families in our community."

Since 2003, Bankers Life has supported the Alzheimer's Association with more than $4.1 million for care, education and research programs, including collecting and donating more than $500,000 last year alone.
