Piper
Jaffray Companies (NYSE: PJC), a leading investment bank and asset
management firm, is pleased to announce the hiring of Kalan MacGinley
and Michael Perry as managing directors in its financial
institutions investment banking group. MacGinley is based in the
firm’s San Francisco office and Perry is located in the firm’s New York
office.
“Kalan and Michael will be integral contributors as we further expand
our FIG effort and investment banking franchise as a whole,” says Chad
Abraham, global co-head of Piper Jaffray investment banking and
capital markets. “We look forward to leveraging their leadership in the
space and continuing the momentum we’ve had to-date.”
MacGinley has more than 15 years’ experience as a financial institutions
investment banker focusing on both depositories and diversified
financial services companies. Most recently, MacGinley managed the
western U.S. financial services sector at Macquarie Capital covering
international and western U.S. financial services companies where, prior
to the Macquarie acquisition, he established the Fox-Pitt Kelton
practice. Previously, he was a director at RBC Capital Markets where he
played a key role in building the company’s financial institutions group
investment banking practice. MacGinley’s relevant experience began with
FleetBoston in the CS&D group. MacGinley holds a bachelor’s degree in
chemical engineering from University College Dublin; a master’s degree
in chemical engineering from the University of Missouri; and a Master of
Business Administration degree from Carnegie Mellon University.
Perry, a veteran of the industry, has over 20 years’ experience as a
financial institutions investment banker focused on depositories. He has
worked across the bulge bracket and boutique spectrum serving at firms
such as Morgan Stanley, Bear Stearns, Merrill Lynch and Sterne Agee.
Perry will lead the financial institutions investment banking practice
for Piper Jaffray in the southeastern portion of the U.S. Perry received
a bachelor’s degree in business administration from The University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Master of Business Administration
degree, beta gamma sigma, from Columbia Business School.
“Kalan’s placement on the West Coast is strategically important for the
build-out of the depositories and diversified practices – we’re eager to
have him join the team,” said David
Olson, co-head of the financial institutions group at Piper Jaffray.
“As a native of North Carolina and given his in-depth skill set and
product knowledge in the space, Michael is uniquely positioned to build
out our depository investment banking effort in the Southeast,” added Bob
Hutchinson, co-head of financial institutions investment banking at
Piper Jaffray.
