Unum now offers onsite disability management

UNM

Unum now offers onsite disability management for customers who want their employees to benefit from direct, one-to-one engagement with a trained disability consultant before and after disability leave.

Whether it’s a nurse, physical therapist, occupational therapist or ergonomist, this onsite professional will help employees stay at work or transition back to work after a leave. Employers should benefit from a reduction in the number of leave events and a reduction in the length of time employees need to be away from work.

Unum is a leading provider of employee benefits at the workplace, and provides more disability insurance coverage to U.S. employees than any other carrier. The consultation service is delivered in partnership with Briotix, a leader in on-site workforce performance solutions.

“Through this service, employees will feel encouraged by the fact that their employer, Unum and their physicians are working together to help them return quickly to a productive lifestyle,” said Bob Patterson, executive vice president and co-founder of Briotix.

Through direct, one-on-one contact with employees, the program will help facilitate a workplace culture of wellness and increased productivity. The leave professionals will coach employees on ways to avoid a disabling event. They’ll also meet with employees before a planned leave to set expectations, provide early guidance on return to work, and offer that added level of support and encouragement during leave.

“Keeping employees healthy and engaged at work is our focus,” said Randy Ford, vice president with Unum’s National Client Group. “We know that every day of absence you can prevent, a company will gain productivity. For employees, conversations that begin early and continue throughout a disability may help speed recovery and smooth the way for a return to work.”

Based in Centennial, Colorado, Briotix serves clients in 45 states with a team of more than 300 professionals. Their staff will be an extension of Unum’s Benefits team and will work with employees who will benefit most, including those affected by musculoskeletal issues.

Unum and Briotix now offer this new consultation service to clients who will benefit from this innovative approach to disability management.
