7,100+ Exhibitors to Showcase Innovative Green and Healthcare Items
HONG KONG, Apr 14, 2016 - (ACN Newswire) - Four trade fairs organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) will open later this month. The four fairs include the Hong Kong Houseware Fair and the Hong Kong International Home Textiles and Furnishings Fair, both running from 20 to 23 April at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). The following week, the Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair will take place from 27 to 30 April at the HKCEC, while the Hong Kong International Printing & Packaging Fair, co-organised with CIEC Exhibition Company (HK) Ltd, will be held from 27 to 30 April at the AsiaWorld-Expo. The four fairs are all major annual sourcing platforms for the respective industries welcoming a total of more than 7,100 exhibitors from 42 countries and regions.
Innovative designs on display
To capture the attention of global buyers, brands and manufacturers large and small will again take the opportunity to launch new products at the fairs. "Consumers are willing to pay more for houseware and various gifts items with special designs, as these products serve not only basic needs but also reflect the individual style of consumers and improve their quality of life," said Benjamin Chau, HKTDC Deputy Executive Director. "With the designers' innovation and insights into daily life, many new products and brands have forged their way onto the market. Quite a number of companies choose to progress from creating innovative designs to launching their own brands so as to enhance consumer loyalty and product value."
The four fairs will all feature special premium zones to facilitate sourcing activities. In the Houseware Fair, the Hall of Elegance will gather renowned local and international brands, including the local kitchenware and kitchen appliances brand Kinox and Metier Atelier as well as Jia, with its Chinese-style designs, and the Japanese brand Like-it with its household solutions that are both fun and practical. Another highlighted zone is World of Fine Dining. It will showcase a range of kitchenware and tableware from well-known brands such as Korean glassware brand Glasslock, Hong Kong kitchenware designer brand Konstar and new white porcelain tableware brand Wilmax from the United Kingdom. The Hall of Fine Designs in the Gifts & Premium Fair will feature more than 130 famous gift brands such as B.Duck, Green & Associates, Hugo Boss, Moleskine, Nu Design and PO: Selected, while the Avenue of Inspiration will display innovative products from start-ups. The Hong Kong Exporters' Association (HKEA), the fair's co-organiser, will also have a pavilion gathering more than 170 exporters while the themed zones Isle of Originality and the inaugural Smart Design Village are set to showcase exciting and original works by Hong Kong product designers.
Meeting demand for green and wellness products
Mr Chau said, "Not only do consumers demand products with better quality and design, they are becoming more and more concerned about whether the products promote good health and are environmentally-friendly. Therefore, wellness products such as water filters, nutrition-retaining kitchenware and health & beauty products are particularly popular in the market nowadays. To catch the consumers' attention, manufacturers also stress their efforts in protecting the environment through the materials and production process."
Dedicated zones for green products will be featured at the four fairs. They are the Green Living zone in the Houseware Fair, Green Gifts and the new BYOB (Bring Your Own Bag) zone in the Gifts & Premium Fair and Green Printing & Packaging Solutions in the Printing & Packaging Fair. All green products are strategically arranged to facilitate sourcing. Meanwhile, the positioning of the Bath, Beauty & Healthcare zone in the Houseware Fair and the Beauty, Health & Wellness zone in the Gifts & Premium Fair enables buyers to easily locate healthcare and wellness products.
New themed zones address changing tastes
Based on the changes in the industry and buyers' feedback, the HKTDC has restructured thematic zones to enhance the experience for fair participants. This year's Houseware Fair will see the introduction of two new zones; the Interior Furnishing Materials zone will feature furnishing materials, hardware and DIY tools, while the Baby Products zone will display baby toys, furniture, home-safety devices, skincare & healthcare and feeding & nursery products. The World of Pet Supplies returns with the latest pet products, some of which incorporate the latest Internet of Things (IoT) applications to enhance the lives of pets and their owners. Four new themed zones will be launched at the Gifts & Premium Fair this year. These include Trophies & Medals, BYOB, Photographic & Camera Accessories and the Art & DIY Gifts zone, which will feature delicate handmade crafts and related tools and materials.
Concurrent events maximise business opportunities
Held concurrently with the Houseware Fair, the Home Textiles and Furnishings Fair will display a large variety of top quality bedding, curtains, towels and carpets from different countries. Major textiles producers, the Chinese mainland and India will be well-represented at the fair, including three Indian textile organisations setting up their own pavilions. Portugal is also mounting a pavilion to present a dazzling array of high quality textiles. Renowned as "the Hometown of Textiles," Nantong city in Jiangsu Province will also establish a pavilion to showcase quality bedding products.
The Printing & Packaging Fair will take place in parallel with the Gifts & Premium Fair. This year the fair will welcome new exhibitors from Denmark, Indonesia and the UK. The latest printing and packaging products, materials, techniques and services will be featured at the fair. The De Luxe Zone and Green Printing & Packaging Solutions will again be in the limelight.
Facilitating industry interaction
Last year, these four fairs combined attracted over 110,000 local and overseas buyers. This year, the HKTDC expects to organise close to 300 buying missions to visit the four events, which alone will amount to more than 20,000 representatives from overseas companies. With global industry experts gathering in Hong Kong, a series of seminars, product demonstrations and various networking activities will facilitate business interactions. During the Houseware Fair, there will be a seminar led by trend forecaster WGSN under the theme of "WGSN TrendTalk: 2017 Houseware & Home Textiles 2017 Forecast". Home Essentials Parades and Smart Design Homeware product demos will also be held. For the Gifts & Premium Fair, seminars include "Trendwatcher: Gifts & Premium Retailing" and "Formulating Your Ideal Cross-border e-Commerce Strategy" among others. To acknowledge and encourage new local talents and quality product designs, the HKEA has, since 2012, organised the Smart Gifts Design Awards (HKSGDA). This year's awards presentation ceremony will take place during the networking reception of the Gifts & Premium Fair on 27 April, while award-winning products will be on display at the Smart Design Village of the HKEA Pavilion.
