MONTREAL, April 14, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - RBC Royal Bank was awarded the Solidaires prize in the Leadership Campaign category at the Distinctions recognition event, which honours the social involvement and leadership of companies that support Centraide.
"We are delighted to receive this award, which recognizes all our employees' deep rooted and ongoing involvement. The exceptional work carried out by hundreds of volunteers and the overwhelming generosity of employees from all business units deserve our heartfelt thanks," said Martin Thibodeau, President, Quebec Headquarters, RBC Royal Bank. "Investing in the future and in the communities in which we are present will continue to be a long-standing priority for us".
RBC's commitment to communities and to people in need led to the organization of creative and engaging initiatives during the campaign that took place last fall.
RBC's Centraide campaign benefited, among others, from the selection of 60 RBC wide ambassadors, responsible for generating interest and participation among the many volunteers and employees. This new approach fostered the emergence of such varied activities as breakfasts and suppers, prize draws, a series of participatory challenges and the sale of bracelets in branches.
Despite the ambitious objectives, the Quebec leg of the campaign raised $1,702,000, up 10.6% over 2014. The objective set at the beginning was 5% higher than that of the previous campaign. Further, 180 leaders contributed a total of $411,285, up 19.5% over 2014. At the national level, RBC's Centraide campaign raised $17.3 million, $2 million more than in 2014.
