Constellation Names Philadelphia Charities to Receive Donations as Part of 2016 Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS Championship

Constellation announced today the local Philadelphia charities that will receive grants as part of this year’s Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS Championship, which will be held June 9-12 at the Philadelphia Cricket Club.

As championship sponsor, Constellation, through the Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS Championship, will provide $500,000 in funding to Philadelphia-area non-profit organizations focused in the areas of education, youth development, affordable housing, and health care.

“Constellation and our parent company, Exelon, have a long history of serving Pennsylvania, so we are pleased to be able to help support local organizations here that are making a difference,” said Bruce Stewart, senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Constellation. “Giving back to the communities we serve is a key part of Constellation’s culture, and an important part of the Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS Championship.”

Located throughout the greater Philadelphia area, the 2016 charities are:

HEADstrong Foundation, has supported more than 12,500 patients and their families since 2007 in an effort to fulfill the vision of its late founder Nicholas Colleluori to improve the quality of life of those affected by cancer.

Philadelphia Outward Bound School instills in its students a desire to serve and helps them gain strength of character and leadership skills through experience-based outdoor leadership programs for youth and adults.

The J. Wood Platt Caddie Scholarship Trust was created in 1958 by the Golf Association of Philadelphia in honor of Philadelphia’s premier golfer of the era, J. Wood Platt, who was also the scholarship’s co-founder and first contributor, to financially aid deserving caddies in their pursuit of higher education.

“The most rewarding aspect of this Championship is being able to leave a charitable footprint in the Philadelphia community,” said Joe Rotellini, executive director of the Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS Championship. “Thanks to our title sponsor, Constellation, our championship volunteers, and other efforts, we are able to support these wonderful causes."
