Guidance Software Opens 16th Annual Cybersecurity and Forensic Investigation Conference - Enfuse
2016
Introduces First Annual NetWars, the SANS Hands-On Interactive Competition
Guidance Software, makers of EnCase®, the gold standard in forensic security, today announced that Enfuse kicks off today at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. In its 16th year, Enfuse is one of the largest
international gatherings of multi-national organizations and government agencies focused on current trends and recent industry news
in cyber security, information risk and digital investigations. The nearly 1,500 attendees will be able to select from 125 sessions
in 11 tracks featuring the world’s foremost experts in the security, corporate, education, legal, law enforcement and government
sectors discussing best practices, success stories, labs and practical solutions on how to identify and defend against evolving
cyber threats.
In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in the SANS Digital Forensics and Incident Response (DFIR)
NetWars competition. The two-day contest will feature time-limited, forensic and incident response challenges that require players
to progress through increasingly difficult skill levels.
This is the first year that Guidance is hosting NetWars at Enfuse. The popular competition encompasses a suite of hands-on,
interactive learning scenarios that enable information security professionals to develop and master the real-world skills they need
to excel in the field. Participants compete to win the highest number of points and the tournament. Points are awarded for each
level successfully completed. There are five levels that participants can master – Initiate, Padawan, Guardian, Knight and Master.
Winners receive a DFIR challenge coin and bragging rights.
“NetWars is a fun and unique way to help security professionals enhance and broaden in-depth skills essential for incident
response and detection,” said Michael Harris, chief marketing officer, Guidance Software. “We’re excited Enfuse attendees will have
the opportunity to participate in this fast-paced, practical competition.”
Participants also look forward to two keynotes this week: On Tuesday, May 24, Patrick Dennis, president and CEO of Guidance
Software, will address the critical issues facing cyber and forensic investigators and the future of forensic security.
On Wednesday, May 25, computer scientist Dr. Jennifer Golbeck, director emeritus of the Human-Computer Interaction Lab and
director of the Social Intelligence Lab at the University of Maryland, will address the human side of cybersecurity.
