Alaska Air Group Inc. (NYSE: ALK) revealed
that its passenger load factor in May increased 0.2 percent to 84.7 percent from 84.5 percent in the previous year month. Its
revenue passengers also grew 7.7 percent in May.
Alaska Air Group said revenue passenger miles RPM advanced 11.6 percent in May while available seat miles grew 11.3 percent on
YOY basis.
The company said that on a combined basis, Air Alaska Group reported an 11.6 percent growth in traffic on an 11.3 percent uptick
in capacity from May 2015. Similarly, its mainline segment reported a 10.8 percent in traffic driven by a 10.1 percent increase in
capacity compared to the last year May.
For the year-to-date period, Alaska said its passenger load factor fell 0.7 percent. Its revenue passengers rose 7.4 percent
while revenue passenger miles grew 11.2 percent. Similarly, available seat miles recorded 12.1 percent uptick.
The stock traded 1.9 percent down on Friday.
