Now in its 6th year, the Urban Duathlon, presented by National Bank, has become a tradition in the Montreal business community that helps provide better care to more and more children.

MONTREAL, June 9, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - The CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation and National Bank are proud to announce that the 6th annual Urban Duathlon raised a total of $350,000. The funds will be donated to the CHU Sainte‑Justine Centre of Excellence in Neonatal Intensive Care, which aims to offer the best care to a greater number of children.

On June 2, 400 participants wearing their wackiest outfits braved the rain with numerous volunteers and spectators for this entertaining BIXI bike/running relay race. And the wet weather failed to dampen anyone's spirits!

The event's spokesperson, François Lambert, and co-hosts, Vincent Dessureault and Mathieu Roy from Salut Bonjour (TVA), were also on-site making their own contribution to the cause.

"Over the past 6 years, the Urban Duathlon has grown tremendously and it's now a well-known event in the business community. We are proud that this activity, which combines teamwork and fundraising, is generating so much interest. Seeing how motivated the participants are, we are confident that the event will continue to grow in scale," stated François Rivard, President of the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation's Young Leaders Circle, founder of the Urban Duathlon and President and Chief Executive Officer of Innocap Investment Management.

"I would like to pay tribute to the teams for participating with such dedication, despite the pouring rain, in the 6th annual Urban Duathlon for the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation. National Bank supports a number of causes committed to improving the lives of young people. It makes us very proud to see the Montreal business community participating with so much enthusiasm in this fun race, knowing that it is for the benefit of the young patients in the CHU Sainte-Justine intensive care unit," added Yann Jodoin, Senior Vice‑President – Client Strategy, Marketing and Branding at National Bank.

Registration for the 7th annual Urban Duathlon being held next year will open in March 2017. The organizing committee, the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation and National Bank are already looking forward to reliving the experience!
