SPYRUS(R) Introduces SPYRUS Enterprise Management Service (SEMSaaS) to Securely Manage Microsoft Certified Windows To Go Live
Drives and Encrypting Storage Drives
SEMSaaS Operates on Microsoft's Azure Cloud Platform to Reduce IT Costs While Simultaneously Increasing Security and Flexibility
for Global Workforce Management
SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwired - Jun 20, 2016) - SPYRUS today announced its new SEMS (SPYRUS Enterprise Management System) as a
Service (SEMSaaS) managed cloud services to manage Windows To Go live drives and Encrypting Storage Drives used by enterprises to
reduce costs and increase data at rest security. SPYRUS SEMSaaS operates on the Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) Azure Cloud
Platform to provide enterprises with centrally controlled mobile device management combined with the economic and performance
advantages of cloud-based computing services. SEMSaaS managed devices include certified Windows To Go live drives including
WorkSafe™, WorkSafe Pro™, Secure Portable Workplace™, and Portable Workplace™, PocketVault P-3X and the groundbreaking encrypting
Rosetta TrustedFlash™ microSDHC cards will be managed in 3rd Quarter 2016.
"All the unmatched enterprise-level management features of SEMS on premise device management system are now available on
Microsoft Cloud," reported Tom Dickens, SPYRUS COO. "Our customers requested SPYRUS assist them to decrease the demands on
their IT departments by providing turnkey services from replication of enterprise Windows images to managing the MDM system for
Windows To Go deployments. SPYRUS has responded with our SEMSaaS cloud services and, in advancing our industry leadership
position, we have added proprietary 'Defense-in-Depth' layers of security to protect the enterprise data and network." He added,
"Azure enables SPYRUS to use the inherent capability of the Microsoft Cloud to work with the customer and size and configure SaaS
computing resources best tailored to their needs. Whether managing hundreds or thousands of SPYRUS encrypting and bootable
live drives, customers who take advantage of SPYRUS SaaS cloud services will be able to quickly deploy and manage devices
anywhere in the world through SEMS management and reliable cloud-based network connectivity."
SEMSaaS extends global, national and organizational management and security services for mobile users previously provided by
SEMS on premise. SEMS is designed with a three tier hierarchy of administration to provide the separation of roles demanded by
enterprise IT organizations. The CISO Administrator has a view into all administrator activities at every level, the SEMS
Administrator can create admin groups and selectively administered roles that oversee a department or geographic region to
remotely disable and re-enable a device, remotely destroy encryption keys and data to "kill" the operability of the device, or to
securely issue appropriate commands based on whether a device is misused, lost, or stolen. Audit facilities will capture related
user actions which can then be monitored centrally to observe profiles of use and trigger notifications for unusual activities
regardless of where the devices are located.
Equally important for deployment is the ability to change SEMSaaS policies for use of the endpoint device by groups or by
individuals. SEMS hierarchical architecture facilitates national and organizational device policy definition, user audit and
device control procedures to permit the deployment of help desk administrative consoles based on respective enterprise needs.
SEMSaaS administrators can control registration and modify usage policies, e.g., off-line usage limits, expiration date, or
recovering forgotten passwords through the SEMSaaS Azure network.
For maximum security and separation of data, each customer's SEMSaaS infrastructure is installed on a separate SPYRUS managed
Azure platform. The full range of SEMS management services including command and control, audit, and administrative
consoles are available via the SEMSaaS consoles at customer's facilities while leveraging the advantages of additional
scalability, disaster recovery and reliability features provided by Microsoft Azure cloud configurations.
To mitigate against increasingly successful global attacks on HTTPS SSL/TLS protected connections, SEMSaaS uses a proprietary
SPYRUS SECX protocol to add session-based digital signature and content encryption to augment the secure HTTPS tunnel between
SPYRUS endpoint devices and the SEMSaaS Azure cloud services.
In addition, Azure itself meets a broad set of international as well as regional and industry specific compliance security
standards and controls have been verified by various audits and analyses to achieve certifications and attestations. The SPYRUS
SaaS cloud solution employs Azure SQL servers which have built-in backup and restore capabilities. With Microsoft Azure
availability targeted at 99.95%, interruptions of service should be minimal. In the event the Azure infrastructure is
temporarily unavailable, the SEMS client software on the Windows To Go bootable drives and encrypting storage drives will allow
them to continue to function in an off-line mode.
SPYRUS SEMSaaS versions may also be installed and added to customer's existing data center service provider housing their own
Microsoft IT infrastructure to achieve potential efficiencies of maintenance and support services by the customer's IT
department. SEMSaaS itself is transparent to whether the system components are dedicated customer-based IT resources or
operating on the Microsoft AZURE cloud infrastructure.
