Remember back in the day when Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) just sold computers and not tablets, music players or smartphones?
Today it may seem that Apple is neglecting its customer base who wants to dish out good money for a laptop or desktop, at least
according to Quartz.
Quartz noted Apple hasn't updated its MacBook Pro or the MacBook Air in over a year. Meanwhile, the company's line of desktop
computers hasn't been updated or even mentioned during keynoted addresses in years.

However, sales of Apple-branded computers are not doing as poorly as most of its peers. During the first quarter, Lenovo
Group Limited (ADR) (OTC: LNVGY) shipped 8.5 percent
fewer computers than it did a year ago. HP Inc (NYSE: HPQ) shipped 10.8 percent fewer computers and Asus (Asustek Computer,
Inc. (OTC: AKCPF)) shipped 8.3 percent fewer
devices.
On the other hand, shipment of Apple computer fell just 2.1 percent year-over-year.
Wait A Bit Longer Before Buying A New Computer
Quartz stated that Apple reportedly began pulling its older MacBook Pro stock from several retail locations ahead of a rumored
new model that will be thinner, more powerful, have a sharper screen resolution and have more than just one port.
Quartz added that other rumors are speculating Apple will host an event in July that will be completely Mac-focused. As such,
consumers looking for a good deal could likely scoop up an outgoing model or buy a new top of the line device in the coming
months.
