Employees achieve their goal, raising more than $150,000 in support of young people
MONTREAL, July 13, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - Some 200 employees of
National Bank of Canada who rode close to 345 km through the Gatineau and Ottawa regions from July 8 to 10
can say: "Mission accomplished." For the sixth year in a row, the cyclists and other Bank volunteers exceeded the event fundraising
objective, collecting more than $150,000 during this 2016 edition.
"The results of this sixth One for Youth Bicycle Tour are not measured only in financial terms; they are concrete
evidence of the solidarity of National Bank employees," said Denis Garneau, Senior Vice-President,
Insurance, and President, National Bank Insurance, and Honorary Chair of this year's event. "I am extremely proud to see so many
people from all divisions of the Bank, year after year, stepping up to help the cause of youth. Taking part in the tour is quite a
challenge, but knowing that we are helping to ensure the well-being of young people in the communities we visit is a huge
motivation all through the ride."
The amounts raised will help achieve the objectives of several organizations in the Gatineau
and Ottawa regions whose core missions involve working with young people. The groups benefiting
this year are the Ottawa Children's Treatment Centre, Vallée jeunesse, Enviro Éduc-Action, Maison des jeunes Le Mashado, Centre de pédiatrie sociale de Gatineau, and the University of Ottawa (targeted project in entrepreneurship).
Since the inaugural One for Youth Bicycle Tour, more than 1,000 National Bank employees have taken part, helping to raise
$565,000 for young people. To view some of the highlights of the sixth edition, visit the event
