Hearing Unconfirmed Market Chatter of Merck Interest in OpGen
The Rumor:
Shares of OpGen (NASDAQ: OPGN) surged higher Wednesday on
unconfirmed market chatter of a potential takeover by Merck (NYSE: MRK), according to "sources." A source familiar with the matter said a deal told
Benzinga that Merck's GHI arm has an existing relationship with OpGen and a deal would would not be a surprise. But traders
cited a July 11 filing showing Merck registering to sell OpGen shares.
OpGen investor relations told Benzinga the company does not comment on market speculation. Merck did not respond to
requests for comment.
OpGen closed at $3.80 on Wednesday, up 140.68%.
Konecranes Offers to Sell STAHL CraneSystems in Order to Get EC Approval for Terex MHPS Business Acquisition
The Sale:
In relation to the acquisition of Terex's (NYSE: TEX) MHPS
business, Konecranes (OTC: KNCRY) announced Wednesday, it has
offered the potential divestiture of its STAHL CraneSystems business in order to address the EC's concerns in the supply of hoists
in the EEA.
Konecrane's President and CEO Panu Routila said "we believe that this offer will fully resolve the Commission's concerns and
that we are able to proceed with the MHPS Acquisition." Konecranes announced on May 16, 2016 it was acquiring the MHPS business
from Terex for €1.126 billion.
Terex closed at $21.54 on Wednesday, up $0.07.
Unilever Acquires Dollar Shave Club
The Deal:
Unilever (NYSE: UL) announced late Tuesday, that it has signed
an agreement to acquire Dollar Shave Club. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The transaction is expected to close during Q3.
Unilever closed Wednesday at $46.96, down $0.02.
F.N.B. Corp Near Deal to Acquire Yadkin Financial
The Rumor:
F.N.B. Corporation (NYSE: FNB) is said to be in advanced talks
to acquire Yadkin Financial Corp (NYSE: YDKN) in an all-stock
deal, according to sources as reported by Reuters on Wednesday. The deal could be announced as early as Thursday, the
sources said.
Neither company responded to requests for comment.
Yadkin Financial closed Wednesday at $25.95, unchanged.
