At 10:30 am, the Dow fell 0.06 percent to 18,531.79, the broader Standard & Poor's 500 index moved down 0.07 percent to 2,181.44 and the NASDAQ composite index declined 0.23 percent to 5,208.94.

The industries that are still afloat in the market today are:

  • Internet Service Providers: This industry gained 2.4 percent by 10:30 am. The top stock within the industry was TrueCar Inc (NASDAQ: TRUE), which gained 5.6 percent. On Thursday, TrueCar reported a Q2 loss of $0.05 per share on revenue of $66.4 million.
  • Synthetics: This industry rose 2.3 percent by 10:30 am ET. The top performer in this industry was Lightbridge Corp (NASDAQ: LTBR), which gained 2.6 percent. Lightbridge is expected to report Q2 results on Friday, August 12th.
  • Nonmetallic Mineral Mining: The industry gained 1.9 percent by 10:30 am. The top performer in this industry was SunCoke Energy Partners LP (NYSE: SXCP), which gained 3.2 percent. SunCoke Energy Partners shares have declined 10.18 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has gained 3.74 percent in the same period.
  • Silver: This industry moved up 1.5 percent by 10:30 am. The top performer in this industry was Fortuna Silver Mines Inc (NYSE: FSM), which rose 6.4 percent. Fortuna Silver Mines is expected to release quarterly earnings after the closing bell.
