Worst Performing Industries For September 1, 2016

CPB, GPRO, BBW, DRH


The Dow fell 0.44 percent to 18,320.58, while the NASDAQ composite index fell 0.39 percent to 5,193.07. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index declined 0.54 percent to 2,159.17.

The worst performing industries in the market today are:

  • Toy & Hobby Stores: This industry slipped 2.9 percent by 11:00 am. The worst stock within the industry was Build-A-Bear Workshop, Inc (NYSE: BBW), which fell 2.8 percent. Build-A-Bear shares have dropped 39.74 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has increased 13.43 percent in the same period.
  • Photographic Equipment & Supplies: This industry declined 1.4 percent by 11:00 am with GoPro Inc (NASDAQ: GPRO) moving down 3.3 percent. GoPro shares have dipped 66.47 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has increased 13.43 percent in the same period.
  • Processed & Packaged Goods: This industry fell 1.3 percent by 11:00 am ET. Campbell Soup Company (NYSE: CPB) shares dropped 5.5 percent in today's trading. Campbell Soup reported weaker-than-expected earnings for the fourth quarter.
  • REIT - Hotel/Motel: The industry dropped 1.2 percent by 11:00 am. The worst performer in this industry was DiamondRock Hospitality Company (NYSE: DRH), which declined 4 percent.
