Forget The Fed Meeting, September Means It's Time For A New iPhone

AAPL

When Bloomberg compiled a list of key events investors should be looking out for throughout September, it may have forgotten one: Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL)'s "See You On The 7th" event.

In a new report on Friday, Bloomberg pointed out Apple has seen two straight quarters of year-over-year revenue declines, and its upcoming September 7 event could change the trend — that is, if consumers once again line up across city blocks to buy a new iPhone.

It is not yet known if this will happen, because the new product line and upgrades themselves aren't yet known. In the meantime, here is a breakdown compiled by Bloomberg on what to expect at Apple's event from each product line.

  • A "tweaked" design that makes the new iPhone look similar to the iPhone 6 and 6s but with a much cleaner look.
  • A similar 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch screen.
  • A new pressure-sensitive Home button that provides a "vibrating sensation."
  • The removal of the headphone jack.
  • An improved single-lens rear camera and a new dual-lens camera on the 5.5-inch model.
  • A faster processor.

Watch

  • The inclusion of a GPS chip for improved fitness tracking.
  • A faster processor.
  • Battery life improvements.

Software Updates

  • iOS 10 will now be available on the iPhone 5 and later devices.
