FTI Consulting Launches Geopolitical Intelligence Practice

FCN

WASHINGTON, Sept. 12, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- FTI Consulting, Inc. (NYSE:FCN), the global business advisory firm dedicated to helping organizations protect and enhance their enterprise value, today announced the launch of its Geopolitical Intelligence practice. The practice, which includes professionals from the Company’s Forensic & Litigation Consulting and Strategic Communications segments, provides high-end political and policy analysis, bespoke consulting and corporate advisory solutions for a wide range of corporate and financial clients.

“Companies are increasingly faced with the threat of unprecedented political risk and instability, impacting how they operate,” said Neal Hochberg, Global Leader of the Forensic & Litigation Consulting segment at FTI Consulting. “In this climate, it is critical that companies understand the politics and policies behind these threats in order to effectively prepare and respond. Our Geopolitical Intelligence practice advises clients with political risk analysis and forward-looking insights that decipher what elections, policies, regulations, ideas, conflicts and demographics mean for business.”

The Geopolitical Intelligence practice will offer solutions for clients in two key forms:

  • Corporate Advisory Service: A premium offering that emphasizes the impact of political developments on commercial outcomes, focusing on the issues of greatest concern to multinational corporations. The practice’s Corporate Advisory Service will provide clients with the full breadth of FTI Consulting’s global political risk capabilities in the form of notes and reports, a Web dashboard, indices and rankings, custom briefs, and in-office briefings. Clients will also have access to the Geopolitical Intelligence team and FTI Consulting experts around the world.

  • Bespoke Consulting Solutions: Customized intelligence solutions to answer almost any regional or industry question. Bespoke projects can range from short-term transaction-specific due diligence to long-term analyses for institutions with ongoing exposure in specific regions. These include in-country sector, legislation or industry monitoring engagements; stakeholder mapping, scenario analysis, strategic planning or country risk assessments for market entry and transaction-related due diligence; and other strategic advisory services.

Mitch Silber, a Senior Managing Director at FTI Consulting, will lead the Geopolitical Intelligence practice. Mr. Silber, who is based in New York, has more than 20 years of experience as a global political risk and intelligence analyst and is the former Director of Intelligence Analysis for the New York City Police Department’s Counterterrorism efforts where he was responsible for building out its intelligence analysis unit and monitoring, tracking and preventing terrorist threats to New York City. He is a regular commentator on political risk and terrorism-related issues for both print and broadcast news outlets, a visiting lecturer at Columbia University’s School for Public and International Affairs, and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

John Green, a Managing Director at FTI Consulting, will serve as the practice’s Director of Research.  Based in New York, he brings more than 15 years of experience in political risk consulting and spent more than a decade at the consultancy Eurasia Group, where he conducted and managed research and served on the firm’s management committee. Mr. Green was directly involved in the development of Eurasia Group’s advisory services. In addition, he led Eurasia Group’s Asia and Africa teams and was extensively involved in the firm’s Europe and Latin America coverage.

“Mitch and John have more than three decades of combined experience in providing high-end intelligence and political consulting for a wide range of corporate, financial and governmental decision makers,” said Edward J. Reilly, Chief Executive Officer of the Strategic Communications segment at FTI Consulting. “Joined with the depth of our network of professionals in every major hub internationally, our Geopolitical Intelligence team will help clients connect major events to commercial outcomes and navigate the intersection of political developments with corporate and investment environments.”

Mr. Silber and Mr. Green will be supported by a wider network of FTI Consulting experts spanning 82 cities around the world, with research hubs and dedicated specialists in New York, Washington, D.C., Brussels, London, Singapore, Hong Kong, Beijing, Buenos Aires and São Paulo. These political analysts are supported by a global platform of more than 3,400 FTI Consulting professionals in key markets around the world.

“Our competitive advantage lies in FTI Consulting’s experience and presence in the most important global markets,” Mr. Silber said. “Our Geopolitical Intelligence experts carry solid backgrounds in nearly every area impacting corporate executives. This gives us distinctive access and perspective on political events and their commercial implications, allowing us to provide unparalleled and actionable analysis of political risk and its commercial implications.”
