Latest Investment by Utility Partner Coalition Will Fund Product Extension and International Expansion
NEW YORK, NY and TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - Sep 13, 2016) - Energy Impact Partners (EIP) today announced that it has closed
an investment in Opus One Solutions (Opus One), a leading smart grid software company.
This investment is the first external round raised by Opus One and will be used to drive geographic expansion and accelerate
deployments of its GridOS® solution platform. GridOS® enables electric distribution utilities to increase
the adoption and management of distributed energy resources, including renewable generation, energy storage, microgrids and
responsive demand such as electric vehicle charging networks. By supporting the implementation of 100% clean energy capacity,
benefits also include enhanced customer satisfaction, reduced energy cost and new business models for utilities and empowered
energy customers.
"We look for emerging companies with real answers to today's energy challenges -- solutions that are ready to scale with the
help of our utility partners," commented Hans Kobler, CEO and Managing Partner at EIP. "Opus One can become a key building block
in the software-driven intelligent grid, and we and our partners are looking forward to working with them."
"Opus One addresses a major utility issue by delivering real-time visibility on the electric distribution system in a modular
fashion - providing a more accurate, cost-effective solution," said Sameer Reddy, a Vice President at EIP who led the deal. "They
extend the benefits with adaptive control layers that optimize a wide variety of distributed assets, then take this capability a
step further to enable transactive energy, which is the future of the electricity grid."
"EIP brings not only growth capital, but the unique value of a broad coalition of utility partners," said Joshua Wong, founder
and CEO of Opus One Solutions. "This investment will support our market expansion in both North America and internationally,
allowing us to leverage existing utility project deployments that demonstrate Opus One's ability to shape the modern grid. We are
delighted to welcome EIP as our lead investor."
