Motorola Goes After Apple With New 'Skip The 7s' Campaign

AAPL

By Motorola's own admission, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) "knocked us off our perch" nearly a full decade ago when Steve Jobs introduced the first ever iPhone. The iPhone "changed everything," and Apple was both the "rebel" and "challenger."

But that was then, and this is now. By pleading to consumers that Apple's glory days may be behind it, the company wants consumers to "skip the sevens" and buy its new Moto Z phone.

Motorola said other smartphone manufacturers have been busy focusing on "incremental improvements," such as increasing the display size by fractions of an in ch and boosting a camera by a few megapixels.

At the same time, Motorola has "reimagined what the smartphone can be."

The Moto Z with Moto Mods doesn't come equipped with just a "slightly better camera," rather it boasts a Hasselblad with 10x optical zoom. Forget about small speakers, the phone packs JBL stereo sound.

No more being stuck with a 5-inch screen, as the Moto Z can turn any flat surface into a 70-inch big screen.

"Our industry was built on thinking differently. Some have forgotten. So for now, we'll carry the torch. Different is better," Motorola stated.
