Mediasite by Sonic Foundry Integrates with Ramp to Extend Value of Video in the Enterprise

Integration to provide Mediasite and Ramp customers expanded options for behind-the-firewall streaming

Sonic Foundry, Inc. (NASDAQ: SOFO), the trusted global leader for video creation and management solutions, today announced a technology partnership with Ramp. The partnership aims to scale delivery of enterprise streaming video applications such as corporate communications, training and live webcasts to Sonic Foundry’s 2300+ corporate, government and enterprise customers.

As demand for enterprise video accelerates, there’s increased pressure on enterprise network capacity to deliver video reliably without disrupting network traffic or causing bandwidth bottlenecks. The integration of Ramp AltitudeCDN technologies into the Mediasite Video Platform provides Mediasite customers market-leading solutions for scalable and secure video delivery behind the firewall with unmatched streaming, optimization and control of all video across the enterprise. The integration is offered as part of the Mediasite Edge program that includes software as well as services for deployment.

“Robust networking solutions are the linchpin of any successful enterprise streaming platform deployment,” said Steve Vonder Haar, senior analyst with Wainhouse Research. “By partnering with Ramp, Sonic Foundry will provide its customers with more options for addressing the challenge of distributing video behind the corporate firewall.”

“This partnership between Mediasite and Ramp, two best-in-breed technologies, reinforces the importance of addressing the network-congestion challenge that many organizations face. The integration comes at a critical time, just as ensuring seamless video deliver and a smooth end-user experience are becoming increasingly central to our needs,” said Mark Maxey, executive vice president of Media Services, Yorktel.

“Mediasite Video Platform and Ramp’s AltitudeCDN are a great combination for the enterprise, higher education and government markets to distribute video more widely, easily and efficiently than before. We’re delighted to partner with Sonic Foundry, which has a well-deserved reputation as a leading provider in these markets,” said Tom Racca, chief executive officer of Ramp.

“Enterprises are increasingly seeking to scale the delivery of mission-critical video to large global audiences both live and on-demand. This integrated solution with Ramp is the next step in addressing those unique video challenges,” said Gary Weis, CEO of Sonic Foundry. “We are confident our partnership will drive company growth, increase value to our customers and continue to accelerate the adoption of enterprise video with no barriers.”

Trusted by educational institutions, corporations and government entities, Sonic Foundry’s patented Mediasite Video Platform quickly and cost-effectively automates the capture, management, delivery and search of live and on-demand streaming videos and rich media.

Ramp’s AltitudeCDN product line provides the industry’s most ubiquitous set of tools for delivering and managing distribution of video and media content across global WANs. AltitudeCDN OmniCache is the first standards-based solution for distributing live and on-demand video webcasts, and AltitudeCDN Multicast+ is the next-generation multicast solution, delivering high-quality, reliable video broadcasts over bandwidth-constrained enterprise networks.

Leading industry analyst firms recognize Sonic Foundry and Ramp as enterprise video leaders. Sonic Foundry is a leader in Forrester’s Enterprise Video Platforms and Webcasting Wave, one of Aragon’s Hot Vendors in Enterprise Video and a challenger in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Video Content Management. Both companies are leaders in the Aragon Research Globe for Enterprise Video, and Ramp received an honorable mention from Streaming Media Magazine for its Best of NAB 2016 awards.
