“Zoetis is honored to be among Working Mother Magazine’s top companies for working moms for the third year in a row,” said Roxanne Lagano, Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at Zoetis. “We strive to create a supportive and flexible working environment that is based on colleagues living our Core Beliefs. We are proud to be recognized for our leadership in establishing policies, programs and a corporate culture that helps not only working mothers – but all colleagues – maintain a healthy work-life balance.”

Zoetis ranked highly by Working Mother Magazine for its benefits and work-life programs, health and wellness offerings, back-up child care, employee discounts, paid time off, leaves of absence, adoption assistance and tuition aid programs.

Evelyn Ortiz Named Working Mother of the Year for Zoetis

Zoetis will be recognized at the Working Mother 100 Best Companies Gala Awards Dinner on Oct. 18th at the Marriott Marquis in New York City. The event is part of the Work Life Congress annual conference held from Oct.17-18.

Evelyn Ortiz, Human Resources Business Partner and Chief Talent Officer at Zoetis’ corporate headquarters in Parsippany, N.J., will be recognized at the event as the Zoetis 2016 Working Mother of the Year. Evelyn joined Zoetis in 2013 and has been instrumental in developing the company’s talent and development strategies.

Evelyn is being recognized for the way she handled recent health challenges, while maintaining commitments to her work and family. Last year, just days after receiving a promotion, Evelyn was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. “My biggest worry was that I wouldn’t be there for my daughter, Rosie, and my husband, Victor. It was a very dark time for me,” she said.

Evelyn underwent a double mastectomy and four months of chemotherapy. She was able to return to work six months after her diagnosis, and continues to be a high-performing employee. “Zoetis gave me the flexibility to stay connected during my treatment (which I did), or to just focus on myself if that’s what I needed. This helped me tremendously, and I am so grateful for the support I received from my colleagues and manager,” she said. More than anything, Evelyn wanted to be a role model for her daughter, and show her that with love and support, even the most challenging times can be overcome. “Now I just focus on the positive. I cherish my family and each moment I have.”

Working Mother Magazine will feature profiles on both Zoetis and Ms. Ortiz in the October/November issue and online today at www.workingmother.com. The complete list of the 2016 Working Mother 100 Best Companies can be found here.
