Better Customer Support, More Advanced Connectivity via the State-of-the-Art Node
DENVER, CO and JACKSONVILLE, FL and MIAMI, FL--(Marketwired - Sep 28, 2016) - C&W
Networks, a division of Cable & Wireless
Communications, (C&W), one of the largest full service communications and entertainment providers in the Caribbean and
Latin American region, now part of
Liberty Global (LiLAC Group), today announced that it has expanded its reach with the integration of the recently activated,
state-of-the-art Point-of-Presence (POP) node at the Jacksonville, Florida Network Access Point (NAP) known as Jax NAP.
The expansion of C&W Networks' capacity is part of its overall strategy to deliver advanced connectivity through a wide
range of interconnect options to terrestrial networks and other international carriers located in the Jax NAP facility. With the
unlimited carrier access the Jax NAP provides its customers, C&W Networks will further enhance its position among the top
tier players across the fast-growing region of the Caribbean, Central and South American markets.
"The interconnection between multiple telecommunication carriers creates a diverse but neutral environment that allows
seamless connectivity to fulfill our customer' objectives," said Paul Scott, President of C&W Networks. "We are very excited
about this project -- the level of investment not only ensures we are ready to meet our customers' growing demands, but it also
allows us to provide true 'on-net' services from any point within the C&W Networks global reach."
C&W Networks has deployed a fully operational facility at the Jax NAP to provide expansive connectivity from its submarine
networks including the Pacific Caribbean Cable System ("PCCS"), Americas Region Caribbean Ring System (ARCOS-1), and
Colombia-Florida Express (CFX-1). With over 21 different carriers and eight unique data centers at the Jax NAP facility, C&W
Networks can enable customers with traditional transport services such as synchronous digital hierarchy/synchronous optical
networking (SDH/SONET), and a variety of services including IP, MPLS, colocation space, and disaster recovery.
"Working with the team at C&W Networks has been a pleasure," said Luke Leonaitis, Senior Partner of the Jax NAP. "To have
an international player of their breadth, with coverage of more than 40 countries, brings a great deal of value to the NAP and to
Jacksonville's emergence as a go-to place for customers in the Caribbean, Central and South America with interconnect and
bandwidth needs. We look forward to advancing our relationship with C&W Networks and by extension, their affiliated companies
in the broader Liberty Global group in providing world-class interconnect facility here at the Jax NAP."
From subsea fiber connectivity to fully integrated disaster recovery suites located within the Jax NAP facility, this new POP
provides a wide range of colocation and telecommunication amenities to businesses of all shapes and sizes. The 700-square-foot
node employs state-of-the-art infrastructure to provide the ultimate in-network availability. This includes system redundancy on
all levels including commercial alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) battery plant power, fiber connectivity, HVAC,
BMS/Access/Security Systems, and chemical fire suppression, all controlled and monitored 24x7 by C&W Networks Network
Operations Center (NOC) in Miami.
About Jax NAP
Independently owned and operated, the Jax NAP located in Downtown Jacksonville hosts a variety of independent
colocation data centers, network POPs, and subsea fiber providers and is the main access point, just behind Miami, in the Florida
market, boosting connectivity and redundancy for the entire Southeast region. As home to 21 different fiber providers and eight
on-site data center facilities, the 240,000-square-foot facility provides data and connectivity solutions for businesses and
organizations within the Northeast Florida footprint - as well as enterprises at the national and international level - including
