Peterbilt Offers Enhanced PACCAR MX Engines

Peterbilt trucks powered by a 2017 PACCAR MX engine will provide customers new horsepower and torque ratings, higher performance and lower cost of ownership, Peterbilt Motors Company announced during the ATA Management Conference & Exhibition in Las Vegas.

“Peterbilt trucks and PACCAR MX engines are optimized to deliver unprecedented levels of value,” said Darrin Siver, Peterbilt General Manager and PACCAR Vice President. “The newest generation of PACCAR MX engines once again raises the bar for innovative design and advanced technology that improves efficiency, performance and reliability, resulting in the lowest cost of ownership in the industry.”

The 12.9 liter PACCAR MX-13 engine is now available with up to 510 horsepower and 1,850 lb.-ft. of torque. The 10.8 liter MX-11 engine is available with a new 335 hp and 1,150 lb.-ft. torque rating. The PACCAR MX engines achieve peak torque at 900 RPM for the majority of engine ratings for enhanced driveability, flexibility and performance.

Both the 2017 PACCAR MX-13 and MX-11 include a new single cylinder air compressor, variable displacement pump and variable speed coolant pump. The new designs improve fuel economy and extend service intervals for more uptime and lower maintenance costs.

PACCAR MX engines are designed with an industry-leading B10 life of one million miles, meaning 90 percent of the engines are expected to reach one million miles without the need for a major overhaul.

All Peterbilt diesel trucks – Class 5 through 8 – will be configured with an innovative single-canister aftertreatment system that improves serviceability, extends service intervals and reduces weight by up to 100 pounds. The new system’s compact design allows for a wider range of spec’ing options and configurations to meet additional customer requirements and applications.

The PACCAR MX-13 is available for Peterbilt Models 579, 567, 587, 389, 367 and 365. The PACCAR MX-11 is offered in the Models 579, 567, 389, 365, 520 and 320.
