Survey: 47 Million Americans Finish Their Holiday Shopping By November 1

AAPL, AMZN

Tens of millions of Americans aren't waiting until Black Friday to get started on their holiday shopping list. In fact, once Black Friday comes around on November 25, 47 million Americans can sit back and relax since they finished their shopping weeks ago.

According to BestBlackFriday.com, a survey of 502 American adults was conducted online by SurveyMonkey. Based on the responses, the popular all-things Black Friday related blog concluded that 89 million Americans will begin their holiday shopping prior to November 1 and 47 million Americans will be finished before November 1.

Sixty-three million Americans wait until December before starting their holiday purchases and younger shoppers as a whole tend to procrastinate and start later.

The survey found that Americans believe that Black Friday prices and deals can be found throughout December.

In addition, 15.37 percent of Americans will spend more this year compared to last year, 32.73 percent will spend less and the remaining 51.90 percent will spend roughly the same amount.

Online Vs. Offline

The study found that 54.28 Americans prefer shopping online but most will still shop online and offline. Perhaps surprising to some, respondents in the 18 to 29 age age group do not overwhelming prefer online shopping.

Shoppers are most interest in seeing holiday deals at Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) at 37.92 percent, but people aren't looking forward to Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL)'s deals at all as the company ranked at just 2 percent.
